I have tried a lot of pound cakes, but this is the best I've ever eaten. So, this is the one I use. Sarah used to have her home economics classes bake these and sell for Thanksgiving and Christmas at Bell County High School.
½ C shortening
1 C butter, softened
3 C sugar
5 eggs
2 C all purpose flour
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ C cocoa
1¼ C milk
1 tsp vanilla
• Cream butter and shortening. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
• Add eggs and beat well.
• Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa. Add alternately with milk to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Stir in vanilla.
• Pour into a greased and floured tube or bundt pan.
• Bake in a preheated 350ยบ for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
